I2S Co-Founders Sara Bice and Kirsty O’Connell were on hand at IAP2 2023 to share insights from the 6th Annual State of Infrastructure and Engagement. Here’s what we know about social inclusion and infrastructure, in four charts…

The vast majority of infrastructure sector professionals surveyed (85%) agree that infrastructure development should contribute to social inclusion.

But only 26% agree that social inclusion is well integrated into infrastructure regulation and governance.

Less than 30% agree that social inclusion is considered across the project lifecycle.

Bottom line? Sector professionals believe that infrastructure can and should contribute to social inclusion. But the policy and regulatory settings necessary to support that aren’t there. And there is a lot of work to be done to see social inclusion considered across project lifecycles.
